Grand Master Kang Shin Chul Transforms Iranian TKD

Submitted by Sayed Najem. Edited by Danielle Alsop Remarck.

Grand Master Kang Shin Chul, 8th Dan, is one of the worlds leading Poomsae Instructors. As the Technical Director of the Iran Taekwondo Association, an Iranian National Team Coach and Advisor of the Asia TKD Union, Grand Master Kang is renown for his extraordinary control, speed and agility. After decades of practicing and teaching Taekwondo he has created multiple Iranian World Champions.

The same champion qualities ring true in his daughter, Master Yujin. The 2008 Poomsae World Champion effortlessly performs her black belt forms both forwards and backwards—awing audiences across the globe.

Below are just a few noteworthy quotes from the highly esteemed Grand Master Kang Shin Chul.

"To disciples what can't I do, what regret would be left as strong as a diamond and as wise as water is raised to lead our nation righteously, delightfully and on a great scale."

MEDITATION
“The value of Taekwondo is not skill but people.”

“Who is my opponent?”

"My journey is of self-discovery."

"Taekwondo is to learn how to persevere."

"One's mind, one's power."

"Mind and spirit are one."

“Without self-confidence even the smallest thing can't be accomplished.”

“Each person must live his/her own life and no one can live it for him/her.”

“One's action will return whether it be good or bad.”

“To be a noble, high-minded, virtuous person we must train our mind, body and spirit constantly and consistently with the highest results in mind.”

MOTION
“Taekwondo is our symbiotic culture of humanity.”

TAEKWONDO IS “DO” (ROAD TO TRUTH)
“Taekwondo is a martial art to learn how to train mind and body.”

“Taekwondo players should practice virtue, be benevolent and sacrifice self for justice. In addition, they can become a real Taekwondo player when they become a person who respects courtesy, keeps pursuing intellect, and lives with trust.”

“The root of a human being is brought to life by the teacher who awakens the spirit, and is the basis for discipline and mastery in the gymnasium.”

“A gymnasium is a basic storehouse which builds up a human-like human.”
